Club Fabulous – 20 Gemmill Lane Tel: 6423 9036 (9 Sept 2006)
It seems I have been hitting a lot of small KYV pubs lately and here is another one. Gemmill Lane is a short street of Club Street but it has 5 pubs on it. All have been renovated and look nothing like the old places that were there before.

In time I’ll cover the other pubs.
Club Fabulous is divided in to two sections but each section is open to everyone. The bar area is just that. hit tables to sit at while the other section is more homely. Enclosed in glass with sofa type seats so here you can get a bit closer to your partner.
Song wise same as all the others. There is a pool table which is free until 9pm.
Mugs are 11.50 so get a jug for 20 and save your money. I was there at happy hour and didn’t ask what the change in price would be.
Hours are until 3am on Friday and Saturday.
I saw there early 6:30 pm and by 7 people started to come in, a pretty even mix of guys and gals.
Over all a pretty good pub with a great sound system in the bar area.

Bold – 33 Erskine Road, The Scarlet Hotel - Tel: 6511 3333 (9Sept 2006)
Great hide away place to hit. Opens at 1pm until 1am
Every night of the week there is drink special which are 1-4-1
Sunday – 20% off all drinks
Monday – beer
Tuesday- champagne
Wednesday- vodka
Thursday – gin
Friday – shooters
Saturday – martini
Upscale bar that is bust from 8pm until closing so get there early if you plan to sit since there are not many seats.
The hotel is not a cheap one just so you know rooms range from 250 to 800 per night so with that in mind you can guess how the bar works.
Nice place to drop in after work and chill out. Prices a are not to bad with a bottle of Heineken for 12 and Bailey’s on the rock for 13.
If you drop in tell the bartender “Happy” you saw it here. Thanks!

The Bronx – 20 Teck Lim Rd (off Keong Siak Rd) Tel 6225 2959 (renamed Aug 2007)
Arrive 8:30 pm my third stop for the night. I had heard about the pub from my forum so decided to check it out on a Saturday night and seeing how it was 8:30 I had expected a lot more going on then I found.
When I walked in there where about 10 or 15 girls, all were just sitting around talking to each other, eating or playing games. I ordered my beer and just looked around. It was a while about 15 minutes before anyone can over to say hit to me. by this point I was about ready to go since my beer was about gone.
Knowing this is a Buy-me-Drink (BmD) bar the girls were a bit slow on moving in on mister money bags. But soon things where as I has thought they should be so I got a few rounds of drinks to lighten things up some.
This could be a late night place to visit OR the girls where waiting for their regulars to show? Who knows!
Like any bar I have been too I will return to get a better feel of the place when it has a crowd. So you never know when I’ll drop by again.

Lookers Music – 510 The Sun Flower, Geylang Road – Tel 6749 9248 (Aug 26 2006)
Second Stop; I found the pub while out walking around one Saturday when I was updating my club list. It was a hot day and this was just the place I was looking for that had ice cold beer so I stopped in around 5:30pm.
Good size place with a nice atmosphere and helpful staff. I was the first one there due to the time so at first it was just me and one waitress. Later I meet Jean the male bartender/manager and we talked for a long time, 3 beers if I recall right.
Beck’s is the beer on tap so that for me is a plus. They play karaoke songs, Chinese and American so everyone can join in and sing. The club has a pool table and beers are $8.00 a mug. If you have a large group this club can seat about 75 people.
Hours are 5-2am Sunday to Thursday
5-3am Friday and Saturday
Over all I found it a nice place to visit and will return if I find my self in the area. I’m sure later on in the evening it will be a lot more fun but I still enjoyed my self there.
If you stop in tell them you saw it here.

Myths KTV Pub – Lorong 15 No.31 – 6841 2077 (26 Aug 2006)
My first stop for the day hot and damn thirsty, I was going to hit the coffee shop to save a few bucks but chose the A/C vice the hot sun instead.
Arrival time 4pm walked in and was greeted by the waitress right off the bat. She showed me to a table where I ordered a big bottle of Tiger for $13.00.
Started to check out the club and here is what they have, pool table, karaoke room – 3 (can’t remember if they had windows or not but I want to say no) karaoke in the bar area with American and Chinese songs, and also have these large self pour table jugs which hold about 3 or 4 regular jugs for $50.00 great if you have a large group or just like to do some heavy drinking.
The Myths KTV Pub has plenty of room to sit, about 75 seats and a lot of room to stand. You can also sit out side in front if you like to enjoy the night air.
On Saturday they stay open until 4am. I didn’t get the normal knock off time but I would say about 1 or 2?
For me it was an ok place but I would need to see it later in the night to see what the action could be like. Due to the area who knows what could be found there!
This club would not be for everyone that I can say for sure. If you are Chinese speaking this would be a good place to visit and have a good time. In my case I just don’t care and I can fit in almost anywhere.
New Asia Bar, Raffles city, 2 Stamford Road, 6837 3322 – July 21 2006
The New Asia Bar is on the 72nd floor of the Swissotęl The Stamford.
I have lived here in Singapore since 2001 and have heard about the night club but never made it there until last night.
I got there about 8:30pm and found the club packed already but for a Friday night it could be expected. The crown is your working professional so everyone has a good time with out any trouble happening.
Lots of people dancing on the dance floor which is a bit small for the club, but meets the needs and keeps everyone close. Music is a mix of just about everything so I had the more then enough chances to grad a few ladies and work up a sweet.
Drink prices are great for the location. Happy hour which ends at 9pm and then from Midnight to 1am all drinks are discounted by 50%.
The line starts to form before 9pm so if you arrive after that plan on waiting a while.
Opening Hours: 3pm to 1am (Sun to Wed) / 3pm to 2am (Thu) / 3pm to 3am (Fri & Sat)
If you haven been to the New Asia bar put it on your list and drop by and check it out.
Top 5 – 400 Orchard Road, #04-35 Orchard Towers 6733 4666 (18 May 2006)
Well I made it by the new disco last night and here is what I found
I got there about 9:15 after leaving Crazy Horse (Got there at 8 and it was empty until 8:30) and it was still pretty quite at that time. I took a seat on the lower floor area by the door so I could see the people come in. on the lower floor there is a bar, 1 pole dance table and the DJ. The dance floor is sunken which is different and judging by the size of the dancing area it would be safe to say that dancing was not a high priority.
The stage is a good size where you watch the shows they have. The show they had the night I was there was something I could have done with out but over all not bad. They performing Grease songs in costumes for one part then the second show, shit I forgot!
- Happy hour was still going on which is from 6 to 10 jugs are 18.00.
- You have 4 pole dancers
- Ladies night is Tuesday and Wednesday where they get 2 free drinks and 1for1 all night.
- Guys night is Thursday buy 2 bottles champagne and wine at 20% off. The may be other deals but I busy and didn't catch it all.
- Finger food is available.
- Members cost are damn high for the club but if you have the cash I guess it would be no big deal with a platinum member ship going for $2,000
Al my buddy from Jamaica showed up there at 10 something and it when I got back from the bathroom he already had 2 girls in arm, one for him and yes one for me.
Both from Vietnam and really friendly, go figure. Over time mine took off to find more prosperous customers since I wasn’t. So after she took off I started to talk to the dancers and girls selling shoots. Since I do shots normally I get the drinks for the girls.
By 11pm the place had really filled up with women much like Top 10 did so the place is alive again. Like Top 10 the prices are higher sad to say but what the hell.
Opens at 8 and closes at 6am

Ba-li-ba – 400 Orchard Road, #01-10 Orchard Towers 6736 2056 (18 May 2006)
This is the new club on the first floor by the AMT machine.
Not a bad place and has been open for 2 weeks now.
I was pretty blasted from Top 5 when I reached there (2 something or was it 3?) well any way. I talked with Aaliyah the ops manager, Talk Leggy woman and pretty hot too. I had spotter her when I got to the towers. So you can see why I returned to this club when I was leaving.
Over time it should be come another hot spot. they have a band and pool table too.
Closes at 4 sun-thur and 5am fri-sat.
Café Cosmo – 47 Amoy Street – 6220 9510 (3 May 2006)
Small but cozy place I found in the CDB area one night. This is one of those places you drop by after work to just relax. Inside it feels like you are in some one home.
If you want you can also sit outside.

House of Rock – 83 Tras Street, Tel 6221 3353 (19 April 2006)

Tras Street is a short little road but on it you will find about 6 or 7 pubs there and one large KTV place. So seeing how this was my first time on the street I started with the first pub on the block H.O.R. as the sign says.
H.O.R. is both a pub and a KTV pub with is up stairs. Now I don’t karaoke pubs, or at least I haven’t yet so I can’t tell you about that section but the down stairs part I will. It’s a long thin bar with a stage for the live rock bands at the far end. The pub will seat about 50 to 60 people maybe if you pack them in.
The 4 piece band I heard on Wednesday was pretty good and played a good mix of classic rock n roll.
Service is great but maybe that was due to the fact that not of people were there about 20 I think it was. The hostesses are friendly but not pushy when it comes to drinks. They will join you if you ask or they may even ask if they can join you like they did with us. When we told no thanks it was taken well and they left us along until we called then back and asked tem to join us. Staff size is about 6 to 8 girls form what I could see it may be 10 with a few slipping pass me.
Over all, not a bad place to hang out at to enjoy the bands with friends or the staff members! I would say it is well worth checking out to see if this is your kind of place and like I said there are rooms for you to do your singing in too.

Attica, Attica 2 and Ministry of Sound (MOS) – Clarke Quay 15 April 2006
The last time I was in Attica was about 1 and a half year ago so I was looking forward to my night out clubbing in the Clarke area again. It was decided to hit Attica and Forbidden City’s club. Well plans are made to be changed and that is just what happen.
We got to Attica way to early about 9pm and the place was empty with staff walking around getting things ready for the night’s events. Attica 2 which is located upstairs doesn’t open until 11 or 11:30 depending on the crowd. We had planed to meet a few friends in the club at 10 and have a few drinks before Attica 2 opened so we had a set in the patio area at the back of the club. Nice seating area with big wooden couches and plenty of pillows to relax on. Since we had some time we made a move to MOS to check it out and see what was happening there, then return to Attica 2 and end the night off there which we did about 3am.
Attica is set up with a bar in the front as your enter with a small dance floor behind it on an upper level. They do reserve seating areas so if you plan to go with a group I would highly recommend you do this other wise plan on standing. Music is hip hop and R&B mostly in Attica.
Attica 2 has a larger dance floor and not many places to sit, if you hit this club plan on dancing and standing. They had a guest DJ when I was there which was fantastic and the club was happening right from the start. Music was house, techno and trance which keep everyone dancing for hours. I had heard about Attica 2 and that it was one of the better dance club and very popular which after being there I would have to agree.
The crowd on my night was a about a 60/40 mix of locals and Expats and lots of girls there too. Average age I would guess for the guys about 27 to 35 and for the ladies between 22 and 28 best guess.
Service in either part is good even with the number of customers and the place was packed too.

Ministry of Sound
This was my first time in MOS so now I had the chance to check out the famed night club.
This place is amazing is the best way I could put it.
We arrived about 11:30pm the line was short and only took about 5 minutes for us to get in. Cover charge was 25 for men and 20 for the ladies, this got you 2 half pints of tap beer. Off to the left of the entrance is the R&B dance section of the club “Smoove” I think it was called. If you go off to the right you enter the main dance area where the techno is playing which is a large area too. Tables are raised off the dance floor are with high table and a pretty good size so you can fit lots on them. There is also the second floor from which you can watch the dancers down below.
MOS has other smaller bars more like chill out places that have their own DJ’s and dance floors. MOS is like a maze so if you loose your friends you’ll be using your hand phone to SMS to find them.
The main dance part was packed while I was there between 11:30 and 1am and the crowd was by no means thinning out.
World class music which is want you would expect is delivered in MOS regardless of which part you are in.
Crowd, well that depends on which part you are in, “Smoove” had the youngest crowd for sure, mostly Malays from what I remember and I did see a few Indian girls there too. Expats saw some but not like in Attica 2.
Overview:
Both of these clubs are great in there own ways so it would depend on what you feel like but since they are close to each other you can check both of them if the cover charges don’t both you. Both close early in the morning like 5am I think it was.
The Clarke Quay area has become a good place to hit the party scene if you are looking for one location with plenty of cubs to visit.
Cost of the night was S$150 which included drinks (7 Corona’s and 3 Baileys on the rocks), smokes, Mac Donald’s after the clubbing and the cab ride home.

The Butter Factory – 48 Robertson Quay #01-03 Riverside 48 – 6333 8243 (17 March 2006)
The Butter Factory opened up last weekend on the 10th of March and had a great launch party for everyone who attended. This review is on the Friday after.
When you enter The Butter Factory the first area you have is lounge area where you and friends and sit down and relax and have a few drinks before the main disco area opens. The glass walls give a nice open feel the club which I found to be a nice touch to the club.
Inside the main area the layout is simple but effective. Most of the seating is high chairs along one wall with lower chairs along the other two. The DJ booth over looks the dance floor with the bar on the right hand side.
Service was good even when the club became much more crowed so there is more then enough staff to cover the floor. The DJ spinning the records did a great job not missing any mixes at all and providing a constant change of music.
The crowd while I was there was mostly a younger crowd but I would say is normal for a Hip Hop club.
For the Robertson Quay area The Butter Factory is a nice change of pace from the other clubs in the area which should be its benefit. (Pictures)

Jazz @ Southbridge – 82-B Boat Quay / 6327-4671 (18 Feb 2006)
If you like real jazz and want to be up close to it this is your club to visit. When you decide to visit Jazz @ Southbridge call and make reservation because the place is kind of small so seating is limited. I would say it can hold about 100 to 130 people and is divided into 3 sections. The first section is the band area seats about 50 people, the next section is located to it with a short wall divider and holds about the same number of people. I like this section because you are not too close and no one gets in your way if you are seated at the wall, after that is the bar area not much to say about that. Service is good, quick and friendly.
From what I saw it looks like many of the people are regulars but I did meet a few where like me it was their first time also. Prices are average for a club like this I think my jug of beer was like S$32.00 I think, either way it was worth it too me.
On most night entrance is free but some times they have special concerts and will charge for entrance. We paid S$15.00 so see some big name guy from Hong Kong play who was really good.
Well worth checking out if you like good jazz.

Bambooze Block 5 Changi Village #01-2043 2 Feb 2006 (6542-4608)
If you want to party I would say Bambooze is the pub for you. Really friendly staff, good music and food. You'll find a mix crowd of locals and Expats hanging out having a good time.
Good mix of both guys and girls which makes it all that much better so you can make new friends. I'm sure this pub gets a lot of regular customers from around the area.
Bambooze is in my book worth the trip to check out some time. When ships are in they get their share of sailors stopping in both from the merchants and the Navy boys.
Prices are about average, I had 3 double Johnny Walker black label and some Calamari which cost me S$59.00 so that was ok.
Will I return? Hell yeah!!
Lush Radio Birthday Party
We had an invitation to the Lush Party that was held on Saturday so we decided to go and check out since we love the radio station 99.5
We arrived a little be 9pm which was the start time for the event. Got our stamps for the clubs and headed for Velvet Underground, this was my first time in the ZOUK complex so I wanted to check out it and see what the place is all about.
VU is more like a happening lounge to me, set up with a dance floor and plenty of sofas and other places to rest yourself on. Multi-level seating gives everyone one a good of the people in the club. VU gets more of the up-scale people over all, not to many if any young party goes hi this location. Due to the nature of the party there were plenty of people from MediaCorp there to enjoy the party and the first birthday of the new station.
ZOUK –
After the party we walked around the checked out the other 2 clubs to see what was going on. The time was about 11 or 11:30.
Zouk was not in full swing yet maybe due to the rain earlier that evening but it still had a good crowd building. Lots of younger partiers here but then again Zouk is know for the place where people start there clubbing.
Nice setup inside and nothing like what I had thought before entering. So I’ll let you discover that for your self when you visit.
Phuture –
Another lounge on a different level that is right off of the main club so it good place to get away from the crowd and close and deals you have made for the rest of the evening.
I understand why people go to the club now they have a lot to offer clubbers all in one location. Tones of security working too, all wired up so if something does happen it is quickly taken care of.
