Report – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 18 Feb -21 Feb, 2004
Kuala Lumpur is a around 5 hours from Singapore if you take one of the buses that leave each day from the travel agencies at The Golden Mile shopping mall. Ours left at 8am on Wednesday so the bus was pretty empty having only 6 people on it. I would say over the all the bus was in pretty sad shape as far as the interior goes with many of the seats being broken one way or another such as the leg rest would not come up or go down, the bathroom in the back of bus was locked so who knows how that was. On the up side the seats where only 3 across so you had plenty of room for nice wide chairs which I have to admit were very comfortable, total seats may have been around 33. The bus on the way up definitely needed shock all around as it squeaked and bounced all the way to KL. Half way up we stopped at a rest spot had a 1/2 hour break to eat or do what ever we wanted in that time. Our destination was Sunway Lagoon Resort I was told it was a 5 star hotel and should be really nice. When we arrived I found the hotel kind of out of place for the surroundings I thought it would be in. When driving to the hotel from the highway you drive pass a residential area and a shopping area then you turn the corner and there it is. We were the only 3 to get off at this first stop and proceeded to check it. The staff in my option were all friendly and more that helpful. No language problem here at all. The lobby was laid out very nice and gave the appearance of being and up-scale hotel. After the check in counter you’ll find a very large cocktail lounge that has a band playing at night. Prices here are average for a hotel. I got a double Chives on the rocks for 56Ringit (exchange rate was 2.25 to the sing$) so it not like you are going to save all that much on drinking if that is your thing and the reason you are going to KL. I’ll cover more on this later. Our room was big with a single king size bed, tub, showers, 21 inch TV and all the normal stuff you’d expect to find. The room have internet access thought the TV or your own laptop for 24ringit per 24 hours so that was a pretty good deal but I decided to pass since this was my vacation and wanted to keep off the net during my time there. If you are going on business or with a family you may want this option since it has games on it so the kids can be keeps busy if they are not in the lagoon playing. The room also had a safe in the closet to keep your valuable in which is easy to activate at no extra cost. The lagoon area has 2 sections, the first is the pool / Jacquie area this is free to the guest of the hotel naturally. The other section, the lagoon play ground will cost you (39RM adults / 26RM kids all parks ticket for a day. They have a wave maker pool, tub ride around the park, 3 different slides, roller coaster, rocking boat ride and around 11 other attractions to enjoy. By the pool area there is a bar to help you out if it should get too hot and the water is not cooling you off enough. Ok so enough about the hotel already, within easy walking distance of the resort you’ll find several nice clubs to spend your time. The first one you come to is the Club Fran bar, seating inside and out, serves meals and finger food. Beers during happy are 7RM and jugs are 26RM for Carlsberg. Happy hour starts at 12 and runs until 9pm when the prices double. Ladies night is Thursday so go early this is one place you really don’t want to miss when they pack it in, plus you’ll miss paying the cover to get in. Around the corner is the Q-bar / Disco. Another nice place with a bar area out side but all the action is in side where the DJ has the crowd on their feet dancing the night away. Wednesday was really happening what I was there. Carlsberg beer was 11.99RM per glass with taxes. Moving down a bit more you come to the Rainforest Bistro a more laid back place to just relax and take in the sites that are walking by. Carlsberg here are 11RM also. In the area there are 7 or 8 clubs one of which is a karaoke place but I didn’t make it there to check it out. Cross the street you see a small pub called “The Joint”, I stopped by and found it pretty dead but again it was a weekday so I can’t say what it would be like on a other days, the clubs is a open concept, and I think I saw a pool table there but can’t recall for sure since by this time I was pretty blitzed. Day -2 headed for Kuala Lumpur – Center City (Golden Triangle) (KLCC) First stop was the Petronas Towers after a 29RM cab fare from the Hotel. So I can say “I was there!” I wanted to go up in the towers but the time for tours was from 9am to 5pm only and even then you could only go to the 44th floor where the Sky Bridge is located. I thought it really sucked we could get to the top of the worlds tallest buildings and talk a look around but then with the highest floor only being 88 floors unlike the old World Trade Towers that had 110 plus floors it was no big lost so after some picture taking we headed for Jalan Sultan Ismail where the clubs are supposed to be. Manage to navigate or way there with no problem and found the Hard Rock Café right after the corner. Stopped in to check it out around 6pm, pretty quiet place with nothing happening so after looking at the over priced shirts, hats and pins we moved on down the road. Next stop was Twelve SI about a 5 minute walk away. In this small area there are a total of 5 clubs with something for everyone from pool to disco. This area showed great promise to a hot spot to party at since it was only 6:30 and the crowd and started to form already in the clubs. After a few rounds of beer we headed off again to the corner of Sultan Ismail and Jalan Raja Chulan. Now here is a location where you can head in all directions and find a club. I saw 1 Disco call Nouvo Club (#16 Jalan Sultan Ismail) which is a late night place closing at 3am. Across the street is the Thai Bar and next door is another place which I forgot the name of. Over all my impression of the clubbing in the area, weekday or not was pretty damn sad. So we planed to head out of the area and back to some place closer to home since the cab fare is 1.5 the fare after midnight. The next adventure was getting a cab that a meter in it, good luck with this one. We had been told to use metered cabs so you don’t get the shaft. Well it really had to do if none of the cabs have them and if they do I’ll be damned where they keep them. So we ended up paying 20RM to get to Bangsar Baru which was supposed to be the big Expat hangout area. Knowing the Expat areas in Singapore I felt this location couldn’t miss and with be the best yet, WRONG!! 2 blocks of nothing much, plenty of clubs but none worth my time which is pretty sad coming from a sailor! We walked around to see the whole area then out of outer disgust pulled in to in this Irish pub I remember seeing on the internet, began with an “F” in the name. the pub had table out side and were all full, around 5 or 7 tables while inside they had seating for about 20 people so that was a dead in end. Needing a drink we crossed back across the street to this 2 story bar called Telawi Street Bistro. Nice set up with a restaurant down stairs and the bar on the upper level. This was a nice place, good layout, fair size crowd having quiet fun. Se sat by the street to I could watch the action and came to the realization that Singapore surely has a lot better looking women in my book. On the way back to Sunway Pyramid we paid 15 RM for the non-metered cab. Back in the best party area we found we hit our clubs one last time before returning to the hotel around 1am. Not really ready to go to the room we made a detour into the cocktail lounge and checked out the band. Over all the night was ok to say the least. Could it have been better if it was a weekend? I could really say. Maybe I was just out to early or didn’t know where to go which is the problem in any large city. Maybe if I had a week or two I have a better ideal of what KL is really like but I didn’t and I don’t. So I’m sure it will be a while before I make it back there again. Maybe next time I’ll try some other place because I can say, “I was there in KL in 2004”. A word for the visitors; 97% of the people I saw in the clubs were Chinese, with Malaysia being a Muslim country this could be why I didn’t see many in the clubs again unlike Singapore where the Malay girls are all over the place. So that is my report on Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,

Johor Bahru Malaysia - Sakura Club
Bros,
Just thought I would post this field report considering that many of you may visit Singapore or Malaysia and will need to have some fun.
Johor Bahru is in Malaysia and it is just next to the Singapore border, so if you are traveling from Singapore the journey will take you only 30-45 minutes to reach Johor.
Being in Singapore I have travelled there countless number of times to enjoy certain pleasures available there. I recently heard about this place in Johor so me and my best buddy decided to pay a visit.
This place in Johor is known as 'Taman Sentosa', basically Tamam Sentosa is a stretch of road where you find many nightclubs, discos and eating places which serve allot of seafood.
Our target was a place called Sakura, as you enter the road through Taman Sentosa you can't miss it as the signage is in big neon lights.
As we have never been there before we decided to have a drink nearby and watch the place first because from the front it looks like a cheesy Karaoke Bar. After awhile we decided to enter and as soon as we got to the door the guy standing there ushered in while speaking into his Walkie Talkie to the people inside. The moment we entered we had to really be careful where we were walking as it almost pitch-black, how interesting, luckily the people escorting us were carrying torchlights. We were brought to a small room with a L-shaped sofa...as expected there was no Karaoke machine in there.
By this time our interest level had risen and my friend takes a seat on one end of the sofa and I take the other end. Must say the room could be allot better but the hell with that. The papasan / mamasan come into the room and get our order and we order two big bottles of beer and some light finger food, we were a little hungry.
After these have arrived they ask us what kind of girls we would like, hmmmm, before I can open my mouth my friend is saying, “Slim, tall, beautiful, nice legs, big breasts”. I look at him and say, “Is that all?” Anyway the mamasan and papasan are talking into their Walkie Talkies again and soon we have a parade of girls coming by our door. Being nice a give my friend got first pick. Well he checks them out and send them off one by one, I must say some of them were real lookers. There were Indonesian, Thais & mainland Chinese gals to pick from.
All of them were very friendly and when told my friend was not interested they politely disappeared and more girls came. Finally my friend chose this leggy mainland Chinese gal and I naturally ended up with this sexy young Thai gal who was 22.
After we picked the girls they came into the room and were all over us from the start. They were feeding us, climbing all over us, well good start I thought. We were quite impressed with the attitude of the girls.
Soon my Thai gal dimmed the lights and the real fun started, we could have probably screwed the gal in there but I'm really not comfortable doing in with somebody watching, call me old fashioned!
The gal asks whether we would like to take upstairs to a room so we agree and are taken upstairs to a room, again not what I had hoped for but sufficient enough for our purposes. My girls is quite lively in bed and service was average to good. I was quite pleased.
After this is done we proceed back to our room downstairs and the gals are still with us, no pressure to leave or anything. We stay another half hour and then took our leave.
On the whole a very good experience, nice girls to choose from and you have a few nationalities to choose from.
Cost us about $40-$50(Singapore dollars) each for the girls and another $50 for the room and drinks (this is total cost which me and buddy split).
Posted : 16 July 2003 - 10:11 am ________________________________________ You can go to the health spas in New York Hotel or Grand Continental Hotel - along the Tebrau Highway. They are just 5 mins drive away once you clear the Johor Immigration. As for services - "full service", if you know what I mean. You also get to enjoy the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, plus food and drinks! And yes, the girls there are all in their early 20s and pretty good looking.
Posted : 15 July 2003 - 6:03 pm ________________________________________ Why bother with sex and massage in Singapore when you can go over the Causeway into JB and get the very same service (or even better) at less than half the cost. A session at a massage parlour there costs only RM$200 - that's only S$92!
Posted : 17 July 2003 - 9:50 am ________________________________________ To Wanna know:
Modalities: you go into the spa, the manager will meet you and give you a little safe deposit box in which you can put your valuables, i.e. wallet, keys, hp etc. After which, you will be directed to the changing room where attendants will provide you with towels and a robe to change into. You put your clothes into a locker. Then you get to use the facilities - jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. When done, you take a shower and change into a new robe and you are then directed into a lounge. You will be asked what you want to drink and shown the little buffet table. When you are tucking in, the manager will come by as ask whether you have a regular girl there. If not, just tell him your requirements, i.e. whether you want the girl to be able to give you a good massage, a youngish one, slim etc... whatever.
After a while, the manager will come by again to show you to the room. The girl will enter, give you a good massage for about 15-20 minutes, invite you into the shower and bathe you. You then do "it", take another shower and after that, we can either use the facilities some more or go back to the changing room to change into your clothes. When you go back out into the reception, you pass the key back to the Manager who will open up the safe deposit box for you to get your stuff. He will also ask the receptionist for the bill for you. You pay up and leave. Btw, $92 is all-inclusive, entrance fee into spa, use of facilities, food and drinks, massage, sex etc.
As to which is better, you'd better judge for yourself. I will probably make a trip there next week. If you want to, you are welcome to come along with me.
