When I started this section I wasn’t sure where I should place it within the web site. So as I thought more on the section I felt the only place it could go was under the “About Me” section. The reason I say this is because for so many years the Navy was and still is my life. Being a Chief dose not stop when you retired because you are always a chief until the day you die. I have met other Chief since I have moved to Singapore from a few ships and the base but my hat goes off the Chief’s Mess on board the USS Bonhomme Richard LHD-6 out of San Diego that visited Singapore during 2007. They greeted my wife and me as if we had been old friends. We were given a tour of the ship which doesn’t happen much anymore and for my wife this was a big thrill. She has been on tours before but nothing like the one we received by PCC Tony Zarate who contacted me. The tour was set up for 2:15pm and as soon as we reached the quarterdeck he was there to greet us. Half way though the tour we went by the Chief’s Mess where we meet some of the Chief and a couple of the Gunny’s (Marines) that were on board. For me I felt at home which I was even thou I’m a SeaBee and ship stupid just the fact I was with other fellow Chiefs I was at ease and happy to be there. Special Thanks to the XO of the ship for allowing us to come aboard and take the pictures as well as TAZ (PCC Tony Zarate) and Rick another brother Chief (ICC I think he told me) who took the wife and me out for the night and had a great time. Thanks guys. All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them
