Living in Singapore as an expatriate (Expats as we are called) I have had the chance to see Singapore in a totally different light then before or by those that just come here on vacation. Living here for more then 7 years now I have discovered how everything works, well for the most part I have, yet from time to time Singapore will still catch me off guard with the way things are done here. With that in mind I thought I would make a Web Page telling what I have learned as well as other information I felt would be of interest to the readers of the site who planned a visit or that live in Singapore already. One main point about this web site was that I wanted to keep to up to date because too many web sites have old out dated information and server as no use to the reader. Firstly I wanted to cover all the different entertainment offered in Singapore to give everyone a broad outlook of what is offered for your stay while visiting. While my site focuses on the clubbing scene you will also find information on general information, places of interest, concerts and other events around the country. While not everything in Singapore is for everyone I wanted to include those items because it is part of the country and should be known about. I didn’t want to shut my eyes and say “Oh no, that activity is not here”, when it is! So you’ll get the full story, which may be more information than you wanted but then again it may be just what you are looking for. I am not promoting these activates nor am I condemning them. Everyone has a right to decide what their own activities in which they choose to partake in. You'll find that Singapore is a colorful and exciting country to visit even for its small size. With the different cultures, languages and people you can quickly move from one section of town to another with in minutes. You will see new high-rise towers next to early 1900 shop-houses, old and new blend together in Singapore very well adding to the beauty of the country. The government is doing a fairly good job at keeping the economy moving forward but for the average Singaporean little is seen at their level as many are holding on to their savings so see how it all unfolds in time. You can read more about it in the Life in Singapore Section. Being an American living in Singapore took some adjustment because of the differences in governments between the U.S. and Singapore. You see, there are a lot of things here you can not do unlike in the States, but more on that later on in the site. One thing I have noticed about the Expats that live here is that many of them tend to stay to them selves and not mix too much with the local Singaporean’s. They will have their co-workers and people that they have meet thought business but you’ll find not many knowing the average person on the street. One thing I have notices is that many Expats try to bring their home country with them and make their surrounding much like it was it home. It’s only natural I suppose to make yourself comfortable with your home and the people you have daily dealings with and since most are here on really big business packages you can’t really blame them too much. So does it come down to why a person lives in a foreign land and their motivation for staying, maybe? For me, it is a love of the culture, weather and the women. You just can’t beat Singapore in my book, but that’s just me and my opinion. When you plan your trip to Singapore here is one thing to keep in mind and that is how nice the weather is all year round. With the days averaging 80 to 85f and the nights at 75f there is little to no need for any heavy clothing. The thinner the better is the way to go, sandals and shorts are good for the days while walking around with a nice shirt and slacks for the guys and cool dresses for the ladies in the evening will do great. One more thing to take in to account is the exchange rate which changes daily. ATM's can be found everywhere but the exchange rate is a bit different than a Money Exchanger in the country which is your best bet. If you can try not to exchange your money in the hotels because the rate is a lot lower so you’ll be loosing money by doing this. It’s ok if you need cash just to get you going but don’t make a habit of it. On my forum site you will find more information on clubbing and a few other sections from around the world so stop by there and read what the man on the street is saying and doing here in Singapore. |
