Clubbing here in Singapore I have found to be great fun due to the many different types for places there are to visit. Not that Singapore is any different than any other country and in some way is lacking a few things but over all for its size it does a fine job in the party scene.

Night clubs in select area can stay open 24 hours so if you want to stay up until 9am partying you can do that. Most clubs open up about 5pm with a few opening at 11am but you may have to do some searching to find them to some point I have noticed this changing like in the areas around the CBD, Boat Quay and Clarke Quay's. If you are coming into Singapore on a U.S. Navy ships visit chances are you’ll be starting your party time at the base at NRCC Sembawang then heading to town after getting good and primed there on the cheaper drink prices.

Here is a look at Singapore and what it has to offer:

Discos – The best know place Zouk which has been around for many years and is still going strong with a large number of people going there all the time and from a wide range of ages due to the different venues it has within its wall. Over the past few years lager disco have been popping up in the Clarke Quay such clubs as Ministry of Sound, Gotham Penthouse, Attica and Attica 2and the newest being The clinic. At Fullerton 1, Baby Face while St. James Power Station which will be the larges clubbing venue in all of Southeast Asia is located at the gateway to Sentosa Island. The famed Top Ten has closed at Orchard Towers and is due to reopen some where but this is unconfirmed stilled. Top 5 has taken over the location of Top Ten.

The disco's draw a great crowd all the time due to guest DJ or special events held regularly which fans attend all the time. Start time in most Disco's as after 10pm when the crowd starts to pack in.

Bars – Opening time is about 4 to 5pm and close between 1 and 3am depending on the day of the week. If the next day is a public holiday they may stay open until 4am. Working professionals and visitors are the main customers. Drink prices will be in the S$10 for a mug of beer and up for other drinks during normal hours. I don’t know of any bar that doesn’t have happy hours prices. Fun places to go and meet people or hang out with friends. For visitors or Expats you’ll find your SPG’s hanging around in the more popular bars.

Pubs – build in old shop house are a small places but really fun, they are the larges number of watering whole in the county. You can find them everywhere. One word on pub for you, stop in and check it out. What looks like dump from the out side could be really cool on the inside. A lot of pubs have pool tables and darts. Music will vary depending on where you are. Drink prices can get as low a S$5 for a mug of beer all night. One-for-one drink special during happy hours happens a lot. Jugs of beer and reduced prices make these a good place to party so be sure to order before H/H ends.

Entertainment in the pub can range from bands to pole dancers, to karaoke singing. This is why you need to stop in the check out the place to see what they have and when. Some pubs have hostess working in them to join you for a drink or to sing a song with you. Most pubs have their regular customers and are friendly places to party. It is easy to spend the whole night in one pub having a good time.

KTV – People love to sing and Singapore has more than its share of KTV’s to sing at from large night clubs to small pubs.  So depending on your budget will determine which place you visit. The larger KTV are very plush places with big rooms for your party group to enjoy. I would say these are for the high rollers ad people with lots of money to spend on a night out. To give you an idea of the cost Room Charges ranges from S$80 to S$250 for Happy Hours and S$100 to S$450 during Niteclub hours. This does not include extras like having a few ladies join your group. Your larger KTV’s are places like Deluxe Lido Palace, Dynasty Classic KTV Nightclub and Grand Dynasty Theatre Nightclub KTV & Lounge.

The KTV pubs are much like regular pubs only they will have a few room which can used and a much reduced price.

Places like K-Box is geared toward families and groups that don’t want that pub/night club feeling to them so rooms are available for every group but make reservation fist to ensure getting a room.

Beach Bars – These are found at Sentosa Island which has to be the best place to go, East Coast area and Pasir Ris beach. Sentosa opens during the day time while the others are more of evening spots. So if you like the sun and relaxing head for the beach bars.

Buy-Me-Drink Bars - If you like to visit bars and have company join you for a while Singapore has more than enough BmD bars for you to visit. Places like Duxton Hill and Road, Paramount Shopping Centre, Tanjong Pagar Road, Orchard Towers, Joo Chiat Road are some of the best know places to head out to. Most of the BmD bars have Filipinas you can talk to.

Hours vary for these places many open up at 4 or 5 but the girls don't show up until 6 or 7pm and then close up about 12am or 1am while a few stay open until 3am.

Types of Clubs is a Quick Reference list which is broken in to 6 categories and what I think are the Cool places to hang out at in country that I have visited. While all the clubs may not be listed in certain category the most popular ones are.

Warren's Drinking Guide

Stages of drinking

Being a veteran drinker for many years I felt I should pass on some my wisdom to you.

Stage 1 – you leave work and head for the local bar to have a few beers before you head home for the night since you have to work tomorrow.

Stage 2 – while in the bar 3 of your friends show up and start to buy more beers (rounds). You tell your friends you have to work the next days and yet you want to enjoy your time so you tell your self you’ll leave by 11pm and just go to bed early the next night.

Stage 3 – you’re feeling great, it’s 12am and everyone is now your friend. You buy a drinks for some just because they do the same job as you. You know you should be going home but say’ “what the hell am I working for? I’m out with my friends and they are important to me. Besides I can shower in the morning and just go to work.”

This is when your friends start to order shots of Tequila.

Stage 4 – it’s 2am, you had 10 shots of Tequila and now you want to go over and hit the guy that does the same job as you. Language is optional and walking is a true task now. Work, well now you are thinking about quitting that stinking job!

One of your friends knows an after hour bar and off you go.

Stage 5 – it’s 7 in the morning as you start to head to the door. This is the worst stage because now as you open the door the sun hits and blinds you completely as you try to peer out of one slightly open blood shot eye you and you realize just how drunk you are. Every sound hurts your head. You see people jogging pass and you wonder how can that be?

It is at this point when you say to your self and god, “I will never do that again!”

Note: Drinking does not make ugly people look better, it just make it so you don’t care that their ugly!
