The past singers at the Lobby Bar in the Orchard Hotel

I thought it was a good ideal to talk about the places I visit to give you a better overview of the place and what it had to offer. While I don't do every place I go I do many of them. Many of the big clubs here in Singapore have their own web sites but there you only get the story they want you to know, you know what I mean? Then you get to the club and find out the real deal. Then you have me, the guy that just showed up with his camera and note pad and took down a few notes. A few of the clubs I have been to in the pass have told me that I could not take any pictures of the insides because of copyright privileges! My first time hearing that but hey, this is Singapore not the USA and laws are a lot different here. So now I have to have some one in the picture that I am taking and that is how I get round that, so there!

Spring 72 Pub 704/706 Geylang Road Tel 6741 9493/ Beside Lorong 44 (April 23, 2008)

This was my first time going to one of the many pubs in the area and the numbers seems to be going up too.

I arrived at 9m to meet up with Andy but he was running late so I walked around the area see what is going on. The area seems to be mostly Vietnamese girls all dressed very sexy waiting to start hitting the clubs while they eat at the coffee shops. The coffee shop one Lorong 42 seems to be the main eating place for the girls.

Getting tired of waiting I decided to return to the bar and get a seat. Happy hour ends at 9pm so a jug of beer will cost you $27.00, check your change when the girl return to make sure the 3 bucks is there, it wasn’t for me!

Spring 72 is a large place with Karaoke in the from part which is split in two but one common area heading to the back there are a few private room and in the back a pool table.

The girls, sexy, is all I can. I saw a lot that were very tempting. Most ware dresses showing cleavage, followed by tight pants and then shorts sort, everyone is in heels and a few in stocking too, nice touch now a days.

As the girls come in to the bar they start hitting table to find guys to talk to. Some time the mamason (I guess that is what) she was will bring a girl to your table to se if you like her. Since the girls are Vietnamese you are going to have a hard time finding one that can speak English so you may want to as the mamason to find you one or if your buddy speaks Chinese he can ask for you form one of the other girls.

The girls move from bar to bar so the stock is always on the move so if you don’t see some thing you like right off (which will be hard to do) wait a short while for the next batch to come. Once you found you new friend she will sit at the table you and share your bottle or what ever you are having and from there the 2 of you can make your plans for the rest of the evening.

On the downside, the music is way to loud and the sound system sucks at least to me so talking can be a bit hard at times, but once you have your girls let your hands to the talking I guess.

Is worth a revisit, to me, you bet your ass it is.

Country Jamboree - Orchard Towers Second Floor (7 April 2008)

If you are looking for a bar that is a bit different then the others in Orchard Towers then this is the bar for you. Located next to the escalator at the front of the building it provides you with a great place to set and watch all the people coming in and leaving if you get a seat by the windows. With Ipanema right across the way you can also keep and eye on the people entering there also.

The crowd has always been older people every time I have gone there for both men and women. The girls are mostly from Thailand and pretty much stay in the bar with only short trips out to other places but they always seem to return. If the do leave chances are they went over to Brix in the Hyatt hotel. The girls there are not pushy unlike other bars and will leave you alone unless you ask one of them to join you by either voice or signal (long eye contact, smile, etc).

If you do invite a girl to join you things are not normally rushed and she is more then happy to sit and drink with you, some times if you already have a jug of beer they will just drink that with you. Take out prices are lower then Ipanema and can get pretty cheap for an over nighters if late enough.

Country Jamboree has a smoking room which you can get about 8 people in at a time so that is a plus for us smokers. Happy hour ends at 9pm so before that a jug will only cost S$22.00 after that it is over S$30.00+, mugs are S$5 or 6 and S$10 after happy hours. In the back there is a pool table and the DJ who is paying country music.

If you plan to visit the bar get there early (before 8pm) so you can get a seat because the place fills up early and will stay that way until late in the night.  

Bongo Bar - Orchard Tower Third Floor (1 March 2008)

I has been a long times since I was in this bar so one I stopped in one night with a Friend on was visiting Singapore. The bar use to be called the rain forest or something like that years ago and had a fairly good crown but nothing really great to speak of. There was a good mix of of people from all over.

Well now the Bongo Bar is totally re-done and you will not think you are in the same old place as before. As an added touch it is also connected to Ipanema which is directly below it and connected with a stairway within the bar.

They have live music and dancers that do shows when the band is not playing. After the girls get done dancing you are free to talk to with them.

Club Eureka - Orchard Towers 4th floor Update (1 March 2008)

This club open in Jan 2008 and still need to be found by the masses within the towers since not many head for the 4th floor since the demise of Top 10. But if you find yourself up there and want to hear some live hard rock music this is your only stop you need to make. The staff are friendly and the dancers are ok. The night I was there I wasn't sure if the dancer as some one they hired or just a 2 girls having fun.

Overall I would say this club could be a hangout kind of place vice some where you would go looking for company for the evening but that can change over night so we'll see what happens there and if the girls start to fill the club up

Naughty Girl - Orchard Towers Update (1 March 2008)

I have been hearing that NG had European girls dancing instead of the Thai girls but since I had not been there couldn't say. Well now can, and yes it is true. While I love my Asian honeys Seeing thought European girls dance was / is a nice change for me. Brings back the memories I had of all the strip clubs I visited in the states.

The club also has a smoking room which is one of nicest in the towers. They are open until 8 or 9am on Friday and Saturdays

Club Amigo’s 2 #89 Kampong Bahru Road (name is being changed to Club Senorita)

This club reminded me of the pubs in the Duxton Hill area as all the pubs I visited that did but with one major difference the beers are only S$5.50 and jugs are only S$20 all day long so if your on a budget this is the place to go. You can play pool or sing with one the many girls there who I found very sexy in their dresses. They open at 6pm and close at 2am.

JR Pub, 83 Kampong Bahru Road
Second stop for the night.

JR’s has been open for 6 months I think Richard the owner told me. This is really a great pub to visit and of the bars on the road I have been to this is one I highly recommend you visit. Nice layout, great staff, beers are only S$7.00, ladies drinks as low as S$10, on Fridays about 9:30pm pole dancers and on all days except Sundays the girls in the club are in dresses or skirts.

Karaoke or pool for entertainment.

Zahara, 75A Kampong Bahru Road

This is my last stop for the night reaching there at 11:30pm. This club is located up stairs and I wanted to see what was going on.

Well it was late and a Tuesday night so it was pretty quit sad to say but I decided to have a beer and talk with the girls there. 5 local girls where working there. I spent just about all my time talking to Baby who filled me in on the bar.

Fridays and Saturdays are there big days there. Happy hours run fro 6 to 9. Mugs of Tiger beer are S$10.00 non-happy hour.
There is a Karaoke singing and a pool table. I didn’t have must time to fully check out the bar but it has potential of being a good place to party so repeat trip is in the planning for me to return.

Alrish Pub, #06-05 Lucky Plaza

Owned by the same person is Marissa Philipino Pub in Lucky Place this is club opened in November 2007 as the smoking in clubs band started so they added a smoking area in the club which is great for us smokers.

The club it self is a fairly large when compared to other pubs in the plaza. San Miguel beer on tap at 10 buck a glass is the daily rate. And they are open from 5 to 1am Monday to Thursday and until 2am Fridays and Saturdays. If you want to head over on a Sunday for the tee dance them you will find them open at 12 noon and closing at midnight.

Club Eureka Mason, #04-19 Orchard Towers

The newest club in the towers is located on the 4th floor across from Crazy House in the far corner. A fairly good size place with dancers.

When I visited it was early so not much happening but given the fact that now many may now it is there this could be a hidden gem in the towers so only time will tell.
